the effect is created by having a glass bottom pool on top of the pool itself.

inspired by a great master

according to Dieter Rams:
• Good design is innovative.
• Good design makes a product useful.
• Good design is aesthetic.
• Good design helps us to understand a product.
• Good design is unobtrusive.
• Good design is honest.
• Good design is durable.
• Good design is consequent to the last detail.
• Good design is concerned with the environment.
• Good design is as little design as possible.
Gizmodo has a great article about how the designers of apple are inspired by the work of Dieter Rams for Braun.

i am sure you have seen it everywhere by now but i couldn't resist posting this picture.
to be honest i find it very expensive and under-specked but it is gorgeous and a fine example of how laptops could and should look like.

guerilla gardening

lets follow the example of the Japanese and lets become green anarchist's.
we have to take action and change our urban environment, it is a great area for designers to come up with ideas that we can all implement.

is that the future of laptops?
I don't know how real this video of the next macbook is, but it was well overdue to see some real innovative solutions. laptop computers are widely used not only by professionals any more, design wise though they have not changed since they first appeared. lets hope this is the manufacturers will take giving designers the platform for further innovation.

heat sensitive coffee mug, it could be much better

"At plain sight it is a standard black mug as they come a dime a dozen and in big white letters it say OFF. Nothing fancy, but once you add the hot beverage of your choice, the mug changes color and is turning white and in big black letters it states: ON" via betterlivingthroughdesign
more and more we will be seeing the application of smart materials in everyday objects, it is our responsibility though to design in such a way as not to make novelty or ''gadgety'' items but products that serve the task for which they have been designed.
lets see if we can do better, send me your solutions on how you would incorporate heat sensitive pigments on a coffee mug, I will post the most innovative ideas and try to produce the best on through begdesign

the long-awaited Modbook is finally shipping. First unveiled nearly a year ago at Macworld 2007, the MacBook-based, Wacom-modified Modbook has definitely seen its share of delays, although in the days and months since, the 13.3-inch slate has gained the distinction of being one of the few pieces of non-Cupertino, Apple-approved hardware.
